Message From NSPRAA Commander - 28 Feb 2005

I wish everyone a happy and prosperous new year and nothing but the best throughout the year. As we embark upon a new administration, I'd like to thank Brother Martin Johnson for all that he and his staff did to continue to perpetuate this fine organization.

For the next two years, the NSPRAA will continue to serve as the administrative arm of the alumni fraternity. We will continue to encourage new and old members to support the organization by becoming financial at the regional (local) and national levels and for those members who have no local alumni companies in the area, become financial "at large" members. We will continue to grow regional (local) companies to reclaim graduate members and to provide oversight of our undergraduate programs. As we grow, we'd look to the regional companies to sponsor the annual NSPRAA Conclave. Additionally, regional (local) alumni companies are encouraged to establish activities to foster brotherhood and social actions to support community concerns. These activities may be a vehicle to raise money for scholarships for deserving undergraduate Pershing Family members.

In closing, I look forward to working with each and every one of you and ask for your dedicated support and commitment to making the National Society of Pershing Rifles Alumni Association the premier alumni organization.

NSPRAA Command and Control

National Structure

The Alumni Association is developed along a quasi-military organization. This is done to create a familiar command structure and yet provide flexible subordinate companies capable of independent operations. The overall command and membership structure is as follows:

The leadership Commission
National headquarters element
Local NSPRAA Companies
Individual members

The Leadership Commission convenes twice a year at the discretion of the NSPRAA Commander. The semi-annual meeting or “conclave” is NSPRAA’s business meeting and is open to all NSPRAA Members and Alumni Pershing Rifles. In addition to general business activities new initiatives are proposed by Headquarters NSPRAA and the subordinate companies. The Leadership Commission is composed of The Commander NSPRAA and the Commanders of the subordinate companies.

The NSPRAA Headquarters Element is composed of the National Commander and the National Staff. The Commander may organize and coordinate the staff any way the Commanders deems necessary to accomplish the objectives of NSPRAA. The NSPRAA HQ is the administrative and leadership arm of NSPRAA.

The local subordinate companies execute the Society’s objectives at the “Grass Roots Level”. The Companies are formed by the NSPRAA in the local area. The unit petitions the NSPRAA HQ to form a company and agrees to abide by the NSPRAA Bylaws. The local company may select its own name with the concurrence of NSPRAA HQ. The companies have freedom to pursue its own affairs and objectives as long as it promotes the good name and objectives of NSPRAA. HQ NSPRAA encourages NSPRAA members to develop subordinate companies in all localities,
